Privacy statement

Version 2026-07-draft · 1 November 2026

1. Data controller

Altus Delta PH, a sole proprietorship, postal address Keurenplein 41, Box C5370, 1069 CD Amsterdam, Dutch Chamber of Commerce no. 42002750. Questions about your data? Email support@dearlinggift.nl.

2. No account — just a device ID

Dearling works without an account. Your device gets a random, pseudonymous ID stored securely on your phone. Your designs, credits and orders are linked to that ID — we don't know who you are, only which device made something.

3. What data we process

  • Your photo (the "original") and the tile designs we create from it. We remove the location from your photo before it is uploaded.
  • Order details: the recipient's name and delivery address, and your email address for the confirmation.
  • The device ID, the app version, your credit balance and brief technical logs.
  • Usage data without the device ID, to improve the app: the steps of making and ordering a tile (for example photo chosen, tradition chosen, design ready, paid, shipped), with the duration, the tradition, the size and the country.
  • Usage data with the device ID: a few fixed moments, such as starting a new tile, the introduction, which help question you open, checking out and technical error reports. Never your photos, names or text you type.
  • If you turn on notifications: a push token, to tell you about your order.
  • If you report a tile in the gallery: that report and its reason.
  • Payment details are handled by Apple and our payment provider; we never see your card number.

We do not track you outside the app and we show no advertising.

4. Why, and on what legal basis

Performance of the contract: designing, printing and delivering your tile. Legitimate interest: preventing abuse, keeping the gallery safe and improving the app. Legal obligation: keeping records for the tax authorities.

5. Who helps us (processors)

  • AI services (United States): create the designs from your photo. They use your photo only for that and delete it within 30 days.
  • Our print partner (Netherlands): prints and ships your tile; receives the design, the name and the delivery address for that.
  • Apple and our payment provider: payments and credit purchases.
  • Our hosting provider: servers and file storage, in the European Union (the Netherlands).
  • An email service (United States): sends the emails about your order.
  • Apple: push notifications.

For processors outside the European Union, appropriate safeguards apply, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We have data processing agreements with all processors. Want to know exactly which companies these are? Email support@dearlinggift.nl and we will send you the list.

6. Where your gifts are kept, and for how long

What you make lives on your phone: your gifts, tiles, original photos and addresses. Those copies are yours and stay right where they are — we never touch them.

If you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps a copy in your own iCloud. Only you can reach it, we cannot. That way you get everything back after reinstalling the app or on a new iPhone. If you don't want that, turn off iCloud for Dearling in Settings.

We keep your original, previews and final designs on our servers for 60 days, so we can help you with questions or a reprint, and so your phone can get the gifts of the last 60 days back if it loses them. After that they are deleted automatically. Order details are kept for 7 years (tax retention duty), anonymised where possible.

7. The gallery — a separate consent

Your tile only appears in the public gallery if you turn that on yourself, per tile. You can withdraw that consent at any time; your tile then disappears from the gallery.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, object to and port your data. Request deletion in the app (Atelier → Privacy → Delete my data): we carry it out within 30 days, including the copy in your iCloud. An order still on its way is finished first. We keep your orders anonymised, without name, address or email, and your usage data without the device ID. Send other requests to support@dearlinggift.nl. Complaints can be filed with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

9. Minors

Dearling is aimed at users aged 16 and over. Only upload photos of children if you are their parent or guardian.

10. Changes

For any material change to this statement we will ask for your agreement again before you craft a new tile.
